Our Story

Hillsboro Flower Co. is a small, woman-owned floral business nestled in the picturesque town of Hillsboro, Virginia—just an hour northwest of Washington, D.C. Our charming town, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is surrounded by rolling farmland and renowned wineries, making it a perfect setting for cultivating specialty flowers.

Founded in early 2024 by Emily, Hillsboro Flower Co. (HFC) grows and sells high-quality, seasonal blooms for florists, events, and everyday enjoyment. Whether you’re seeking vibrant flowers for your kitchen table or fresh bunches for floral design, our farm-grown offerings celebrate nature’s beauty at its best.

At heart, Emily is a grower—deeply connected to the land and passionate about producing exquisite flowers. In the studio, she is a dedicated student of floristry, refining her airy, natural style each season. Among her favorites are highly fragrant blooms, a distinguishing trait of locally grown flowers that imported varieties simply can’t match. Their scent is meant to be savored—so let them shine!

Like many small businesses, HFC began as a passion project, years before it became official. The first green shoots of spring and tiny seedlings sprouting in their trays offer a striking contrast to Emily’s demanding career as an emergency equine veterinarian. While her work in veterinary medicine is deeply meaningful, it often involves meeting people on their most difficult days. Flowers, on the other hand, bring joy, color, and celebration—reminders of life’s beauty. Whether brightening a mood, lifting spirits, or sparking creativity, flowers have a unique way of making the world a little lighter. We could all use a bit more floral influence in our lives.

Hillsboro Flower Co. is supported by Emily’s husband, Benjamin, and their three beloved dogs: two retired American Foxhounds, Margo and Cardiac, and an Australian Cattle Dog, Dio.
