Who We Are

Farmer market bouquets wrapped in brown craft paper and arranged together including cosmos, mums, and a dark purple smokebush foliage.

Hillsboro Flower Co. is a small, woman-owned floral business in western Loudoun County, Virginia. Our small town of Hillsboro, about an hour northwest of D.C., is on the National Register of Historic Places and the surrounding area is known for it’s wineries and farmland. Hillsboro Flower Co. sells quality and specialty flowers for your event or kitchen table, as well as by the bunch for florists.

Hillsboro Flower Co. (HFC), owned and operated by Emily, was started in early 2024 to grow and sell cut flowers to florists and community members. First and foremost, Emily is a grower of these beautiful blooms and is very proud of the beauty that HFC can produce in these small fields. In the studio, Emily is a perpetual student, and the floristry skills are developing every year, working in a particularly airy and natural style. Another favorite is the strongly fragrant flowers because that fragrance is one of the many things that sets locally grown flowers apart from imports. Let them shine!

Try something like this….

Like many small businesses, HFC started as a hobby years before it became official. The welcome green shoots in the spring and the tiny seedlings growing in their trays are a welcome contrast to her day (night?) job as an emergency equine veterinarian. While often rewarding, the day job can be heavy with the opposite of life and working with people on their worst days. With flowers, not only are we surrounded with bright and colorful life, but we also get to experience the joy and happiness of working with people on what is often one of their best days. Flowers can brighten a bad mood, lift spirits, and even enhance creativity. We should all have a little floral influence in our lives.

Hillsboro Flower Co. is supported by Emily’s husband, Benjamin, and their three dogs: two retired American Foxhounds, Margo and Cardiac, and an Australian Cattle Dog, Dio.

We are currently welcoming new customers and florists into our community. Reach out to emily@hillsboroflowerco.com to connect!
