What is a flower subscription?

A subscription from Hillsboro Flower Co. is a consistent, weekly bouquet of mixed flowers that extends for eight weeks on a seasonal basis. Purchasing by the season allows us to get you a discount from the regular market price of $30 per bouquet. The bouquets will be available for pick up (see below) on Tuesdays. We are offering five subscriptions this year:

Tulips: For those of us that adore the colorful tulips. These will be straight bunches of tulips only and include the fancy types of double and fringed to make them really special. This subscription will start in April; exact dates to be confirmed in March 2025.

Spring (April 15th – June 3rd): These mixed bouquets will include all the glorious spring flowers that are so adored by florists and brides alike – ranunculus, panda anemones, peonies as available, scabiosa, and lovely supporting flowers.

Summer (July 8th – August 26th): As it heats up, the flowers change to our classic summer varieties that make lovely market bouquets – cosmos, yarrow, zinnias, sunflowers, and of course the stars of the summer show – the dahlias.

Fall (Sept 9th – October 28th): The last, but certainly not least, subscription of the year brings us the height of the dahlias that will transition into heirloom mum season in October. If you’ve never had these large heirloom beauties in your home, you’re going to love them!

Annual: All three of the seasonal subscriptions combined. This combo gets an additional discount for sticking with us the whole year!

How do I know if a subscription is right for me?

You’ve made it this far in the process! You are probably a flower enthusiast and can appreciate the many great things that flowers do for us:

Brighten a late winter space (think kitchen window sill, home office, or your desk at work) as harbingers of spring;
Lift moods and can even release dopamine every time we look at them;
Prompt great memories triggered by scent – maybe your grandmother grew similar flowers;
Build connection with the earth and our local environment by giving us a beautifully organic sample of the earth’s bounty to keep in our homes.

Subscriptions help us get all of these benefits of flowers on a regular basis without having to remember to order them every time! Consider it like your weekly grocery roadside pick up.

What if I’ll be away for one of the weeks?

Lucky for you, we are a small enough company that we can accommodate schedule gaps like that. Simply let us know what week you’ll be away and we can double up your bouquets either the week before you leave or the week after you come back. We’ll have to limit it to one adjustment per season, but we can make it work!

How do I order a subscription?

It’s easy! We have an online form right here that allows you to pick the subscription(s) you like and submit your contact info.

Payment: We currently accept Venmo, cash, check, and Paypal.

As a small business, we have chosen to remain cash-based again for the 2025 season in order to limit our expenses. We cannot yet accept credit cards, debit cards, or digital wallets. We know that this can be an inconvenience and we urge you to consider working with us while we are trying to keep your flower costs down.

Gifting: If you’d like to gift a subscription, please sign up on the form. We suggest using the delivery option so that your gift recipient does not have to organize pick up. Use your contact information initially for payment and we will reach out to you to confirm the delivery address and contact information for your recipient. We won’t reach out to them directly until late winter or early spring, so your gift is safe with us for the time being.

Where do I pick up the flowers?

Pick up: The best and most cost-effective option is to pick up directly from Hillsboro Flower Co. – we are right on Charles Town Pike in “downtown” historic Hillsboro and have the bouquets available here. We will send you the pick up address in the spring.

In total, we offer three pick up locations:

Hillsboro Flower Co., in downtown Hillsboro, Virginia in western Loudoun County.
Charles Town, WV at Finish Line Equine Surgery – bouquets will be in the front lobby of the veterinary clinic. Come in and say hi to Sunny!
Leesburg, Virginia, at a location TBD. Contact us if you would like to bring weekly traffic into your business and can accommodate a floral stand.

Delivery: For a one-time charge of $75 per season (or $40 for the tulip subscription), we can deliver your flowers to your door step anywhere in Loudoun County. Place a water-filled vase or large jar in the shade of your porch each week and we will delivery the flowers to your home on Tuesday afternoons.
